Volunteers

We rely heavily on support from the community, schools, clubs, businesses and organisations. If you know of a group interested in getting involved in our project please be in touch. We welcome short term, long term and regular helpers. Experience is not required but a willingness to learn is essential!

Voluntourism

In exchange for basic accommodation we welcome helpers for maintenance, upkeep and enhancement of the wetlands. Work can include: weed eradication, predator trapping, maintenance of tracks and grounds, plant propagation, tree planting, and bird surveying. During your stay you will discover lots about wetland plants and birds, and what makes conservation in New Zealand so unique.

The volunteer accommodation is well equipped, quiet, and private, with a 10-person bunkroom, kitchen, and living room. Volunteers provide their own food. We have kayaks on-site, bush walks nearby, and we are close to the Catlins and the Southern Scenic Route. Come prepared for working in the outdoors, and with adaptability for living close to nature. Your hosts are a friendly young couple who enjoy nature, outdoor activities, sports, photography and art, and encouraging a sustainable world!
